After the plea came a trip down to the Department of Public Works in person to show them photos and video of our street. A few weeks later a crew came from the City to temporarily patch the worst holes before winter. It was an improvement, but as you can see from the pictures... not a very good one.
You can imagine, then, my absolute glee when a month or so ago I saw the telltale markings of upcoming roadwork.
Here is the absolutely beautiful paving job the City did. The first round was just paving the middle of the alley. Round two got the end bits that came down past the sidewalk onto the streets. The third time they came back...
They put in beautiful new cut corners! How freaking awesome is that?!
I know it's probably silly to be this excited about an alleyway, but this has been my first real individual attempt to directly improve the accessibility of a portion of the world, however small an area that may be, and I am ecstatic about the end result!
